1. Examine MEL capabilities in participating companies
We are looking for companies as participants in the MEL-data collection process. Here companies would volunteer a small sample of senior executives and high potential managers to complete a face-to-face interview that identifies the characteristics of their jobs, elicits their views on the role of managers, entrepreneurs and leaders, and ranks their own and the company`s capabilities on these archetypes (for further details see Test Instruments). The information collected will be added to the MEL data base, allowing for an increasingly deep knowledge of the MEL role in sustainable innovation. Each interview takes 30 – 45 minutes to complete and provides a fascinating inside for participants on the interaction between manager , entrepreneur and leader skills.
2. Provide diagnostic case study from MEL results
In this setting, the process above is repeated with — on this occasion — a diagnostic case study being presented to the participating company on completion on the interviews. The report summarizes the questionnaire results, correlates the MEL rankings with company performance metrics (e.g. innovation index; revenue and net income) and offers prescriptive guidance on such concerns as recruitment, training and innovation incentives. A fee would be charged for the report.
3. Use MEL Index in in-house program / workshops
The MEL index would be conducted within the parameters of a stand alone workshop or an existing executive education program, perhaps focused on innovation or sustainabilty. Participants in the program would complete the MEL questionnaire which would be analysed in real-time, allowing participants to interpret findings — under the facilitation of an MEL partner — and prescribe desired company action to improve short and long term innovation strategy and processes. This service will be charged at prevailing executive education rates.
